It feels so special to get a news letter from you, almost like a real life letter from a friend. Thank you for that! as for the insomnia, I had the same issue for a long time + not being able to fall asleep. I don't really have any tips besides get rest when you can. It is important!

Really happy for you! I really appreciate you taking the time to write for us. You're such a great writer.

Although you don't know me, I've been caring about you for a long time, as if we're distant friends. BTW, I really miss you wonderful podcast, Hatchling. Any plans about it?

Sending you love, from Brazil.

Carlos.

First of all, just want to mention I really enjoy reading your writing style! I barely have the focus to read these days and don't seem to have any trouble reading your content as I find it enjoyable. I wanted to leave a comment about your insomnia issues. There are quite a few things that can contribute to insomnia.

• If you have allergies, be sure you aren’t snoring due to congestion and/or having trouble breathing at night (ie. Sleep Apnea).

• Mineral/Nutritional deficiencies (The following vitamins deficiencies are linked to insomnia: Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, Magnesium, Iron). I found that my insomnia gradually improved when I took care of my Vitamin D deficiency and added alongside that a topical Magnesium spray (such as Ancient Minerals Magnesium Oil Spray). Both of these did wonders for my sleep and hormones.

• Hormones - Do you notice a trend that you can sleep better on some weeks and worse the week before your period? I suffer form this and didn't realize there was a pattern until I kept track of my symptoms on a period app.

• Stress - Not much to do here but to just try to lessen the source of the stress :)

I hope that helps even if in a small way. I have learned along my journey that even though many of us feel we eat a nutritionally balanced diet, foods are often lacking in nutrition for some reason. We don’t eat things we evolved to eat any more - such as animal organs (this includes a lot of the minerals and vitamins we would normally get) or fish eggs (great source of vitamin D) or REAL spring water (also includes lots of minerals, but a lot of it gets filtered out now).

I have been dealing with insomnia since last summer, too. It is heart breaking for me to think that I could be doing so much more things and I would be closer to be the person I would like to be if I was not so tired out of lack of rest. But it feels good to know someone I look up to has this kind of problem as well. I don't feel so alone. I admire your dedication and your creative strength so much. I am looking forward to reading your book. I hope we never meet our life expectations so that we continue creating art to be able to exist. Regards.

Hey August, if you struggle with paint fumes using things like turpentine, you can try Tintorsetto by Tintoretto. I had the same problem in my house studio in Venice. The Tintorsetto is ecological and odorless and it can be used as a solvent for brush cleaning and as diluent for oil colors too. It works very well. Hughs! Tatie

Hi August, I think you’re doing amazingly. Lovely to receive your update here and learn of your progress. I have not been on IG a lot this year, busy with some awesome and challenging new circumstances. Always great to see your new work, and like this; a good read about how you’re doing upon your journey of creativity and travel. Kind Regards, Izaac

Been following your art for the last 2 years and it's really cool to hear a little more about your story and life. Your line work and crosshatching really inspired me to get back into drawing and be more focused/disciplined in my practice. Good luck with everything in Berlin! :)

So happy to read an update from you! Oil painting and Berlin and books oh my! Insomnia is the worst. I think collectively many of us are experiencing levels of it currently. Cheers and enjoy this time in Europe!
